北海若曰：“否。夫物量无穷，时无止，分无常，终始无故。

是故大知观于远近，故小而不寡，大而不多，知量无穷。

Therefore,observingfarandnearandwiththeknowledgethatspaceislimitless,thewisededucethattheminutemaynotbebefewandinsignificant,andtheenormousmaynotbecountlessandparamount;

证曏今故，故遥而不闷，掇而不跂，知时无止。

knowingthattimegoesonforeverasprovedbythepastandthepresent,theywearynotiftheyhappentolivelong,nordotheyregretshouldtheydieinyouth;

察乎盈虚，故得而不喜，失而不忧。知分之无常也。

Again,realizingthatconditionsaretransientandtransitional,andthatthephenomenaofriseandfall,waxingandwaning,lackandabundanceareonlyrelative,theywillnotbeoverjoyedatattainmentnorwilltheygrieveovernon-fulfilment;

明乎坦涂，故生而不说，死而不祸，知终始之不可故也。

andlastly,awarethatlifeisbutashortjourneywithnodestinationalongwhichnowherecanbecalledthebeginningorend.Theydonotregardlivingasablessingordeathasacatastrophe.

计人之所知，不若其所不知；其生之时，不若未生之时。

Countingthethingsweknow,wefindthemmuchlessthanthoseweareignorantof;countingtheyearsofourlives,wefindthemfarlessthanourpre-natalones.

以其至小，求穷其至大之域，是故迷乱而不能自得也。

Sincewearesoignorantandsmall,itisnowonderthatweareconfusedandunsuccessfultryingtoexplorethelimitlessandtheinfinite.

由此观之，又何以知毫末之足以定至细之倪，又何以知天地之足以穷至大之域？”

Thus,howcanwesaythatthefilamentisthelimitofminutenessandthatheavenandearthisthelimitoftheUniverse?”

大小可辨，得失可较吗？人生一世，活在意义中，有时也是灾难。到如此年纪，才发现活着本身就是幸福，因为可以知流年如此，人生倏忽，望江上过往轮船，终日忙碌，可江流依旧东去，无人可复。所谓政界大佬、商界奇才、杰出青年、帅美明星、热门作家或是大头小民，他们忙碌操劳，其实也是如此而已。

万象世界，终日躁躁，你争我夺，不是挤取物质，就是遗传DNA，名声权力成就梦想，虚伪谎言构建世界，一切似乎是自我满足，一切又似乎自我欺骗，甚至沉陷其中不能自拔，也不想自拔，怕显示出光秃秃的灵魂。人生短暂，知也无涯，人却死磕它，有一种不怕输的精神。有些观点看上去很伟大，殊不知也是人生视角之一，只是希望这视角阔大一点，以使自己不要沉沦。
